Students will be visiting the school compound, Georgetown Heritage areas and sightseeing sites around Penang throughout the camp. The theme for this year’s camp is ‘Together, we make a difference’.

Chuah Yao Chou: Learn to be a leader of tomorrow
Local schools that will be joining this camp includes Chung Ling High School, Chung Ling Butterworth, Chung Ling Private High School, Penang Chinese Girls’ School, Union High School and Phor Tay High School. As for foreign schools, they are Hwa Chong Institution (Singapore), NUS High School (Singapore), Cheng Du Education Bureau (China), Chen Du San Yuan Foreign Languages School (China), He Shan High School (China), Việt Đức High School (Vietnam), Đào Duy Từ - Hà Nội High School (Vietnam) and International School University of Lagos (Nigeria).

Principal Chuah Yao Chou states that in alignment with the school’s vision to be a world class educational institute by 2012, the camp is one of the many crucial steps to reach the goal. He hopes that this camp will be the arena for opinions and ideas to be exchanged among the students and will also serve as a place for them to learn how to be the future leaders of the nations.

‘These students could be the nation’s leaders someday, or they might be the cause of our nation’s devastation, therefore they should be given chances early on in life to learn and understand the differences between cultures and lifestyles of various nations, and to help them better appreciate friendships so that world peace could be achieved.’

The Principal told the reporters during the news conference on Wednesday that there are a total of 225 students and teachers from both local and foreign schools attending this camp, which is an increase from last year’s 186 participants.  Also at the conference with the Principal were Teh Min Hwa, Cheah Kok Kheng, Chua Chong Joo, P’ng Lai Heng, See Chee Tatt, Ooi Teong Hoe along with the student council members,  Teh Wei Huai, Khoo Jie Ying and Toh Khai Liang.  Mr. Chuah also said that Y.B. Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon will be declaring the opening of the camp at 9am on July 11, 2011 while our Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Wee Ka Siong will be declaring the closing of the camp at 9am on July 16, 2011.
